The Commission maintains an active Flushing Program. The requirement is to scour all distribution mains on an ongoing cycle. Flushing keeps mains clean by removing debris and build up, and is a key function in maintaining high water quality.
JMWSC staff will be working systemwide on fire hydrant and water line valve maintenance starting November 1, 2025.
Maintenance tasks include testing, operation, painting and ensuring hydrants/valves are marked and free from obstructions. All hydrants/valves must always be accessible for efficient operations and emergency response by JMWSC and Fire Department personnel.
Please see the visual guide for landscape clearance requirements. Your cooperation with these requirements is greatly appreciated. Please note that JMWSC staff may need to trim or remove landscaping to meet accessibility requirements. We expect to complete these activities by April 30,2026. Please reach out to us by phone or email should you have any questions or need clarification about this notice
